The Regional Conference on ‘Learning from Successes’ for the States and Union territories in the South,Central and West regions was inaugurated and conducted on 22nd January 2014, Wednesday at 9.30 AM in the Conference Hall of Vidhana Soudha,Bengaluru.The two-day conference was organised by DARPG,GOI in collaboration with GOK.
The conference was Presided by Sri V.NarayanaSwamy,Hon’ble Minister of state for Personnel,Public Grievances,Pensions PMO,GOI,New Delhi and inaugurated by Sri,Siddaramaiah, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Karnataka.
The Hon’ble Minister in his address , explained briefly the service innovations done in the Sugarcane purchase for the benefit of the farmers, The Malaysian success story of grandchildren teaching the grandparents and Prevention,Amendment of Corruption Act. He also said effective measures have been taken to protect the Whistle blowers and a new act will be followed for the Whistleblower Protection Act.
The Chief Minister of Karnataka addressed the gathering on the requirement of ‘soft skills’ training for government employees ,an essential component today for efficient administration. Also, the launching of SAKALA MOBILE App services was done by the Hon’ble CM where the sms services will be provided to the citizens in regional official language Kannada.

The Civil service officers panel from different states and Union territories namely Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamilnadu, Maharashtra,Gujarat,Karnataka,Andaman & Nicobar islands and Daman & Diu etc.,disccussed on “Innovation in Governance” and presented technical presentations on best practices and PM award winning initiatives implemented in their respective states, followed by interaction on how to adapt,replicate and further innovate such initiatives.
EXHIBITION STALLS FROM EDUCATION , TOURISM, KSRTC AND AGRICULTURE DEPARTMENTS.
The highlight of the conference was the exhibition stalls from various government departments which made an high impact to the audience and the officers from various states who had gathered.
The cultural skit and dance on SAKALA theme was a pleasant show by the young girls from the dance academy. The food was also excellent with Puranpoli ,Bisibele-bath and yummy curdsrice.
